HOUT BAY LEOPARDS

The main problem with this team is the lack of funds. Earlier they had the DASH sponsor who provided them with all the material, paid for their league registrations and provided them with a monthly amount to pay the coaches’ salaries. Due to lack of funds, the sponsor stopped sending them money and that left the club in a very delicate situation. This occurred in March 2018. Since March the team has entered a critical situation, the coaches have stopped charging and the sports equipment is wearing down without any replacement which is leaving the club on the verge of closure.
Project
The club currently has 4 teams:
  • Under 10 (8 players)
  • Under 12 (15 players)
  • Under 14 (15 players)
  • Under 16 (15 players)
A total of 53 children are part of the club. As for the staff, they have Ricardo (founder of the club) and 4 coaches (one from each team). The training is done in the local football field located in the municipality (Hangberg). The 4 teams play a regular league all year round. In addition, the team tries not only to promote the sport but also to motivate and help the boys with the study. The team has a daily library program to help them with their studies that they do every day from 15:00-16:00 in the Hangberg library.
Goal
Our goal is to keep the Leopards running as it is necessary for the community, so this is our idea: 1. To ensure that any European football team can donate the necessary sports equipment to us, whether new or second-hand 2. Conduct a fundraising campaign to fund the club. 3. Seek sponsors who, through sponsorship in the T-shirts or in the name, can finance the team on a monthly basis.
Budget
The annual cost of the Leopards, without sports equipment, is 152.205R annually, which is equivalent to about 10,000€ (1€ = 15R). Below, the costs of the Leopards are detailed:
  • Transport: 1200R monthly
  • Wages: 8000R (2000R/coach) monthly
  • Football field rental: 60R. weekly
  • Food/drink for children: 2000R monthly
  • League membership: 1400R/per team (4) per year
  • Membership per registered player: 25R/child (53) per year
  • Tournaments (in addition to the league): 8000R per year
From here, we get that the fixed monthly cost is 11440 Rands. And that the registration costs to the league annually are: 6925 Rands. The costs of tournaments annually are: 8000 Rands In addition to these logistic costs we would have to add the cost of materials. This is a cost to calculate since the equations can be used for several seasons. These are the products that they need for the team to work and that right now are needed:
  • 40 soccer balls (10 – Size 3) (10 – Size 4) and (20 – Size 5)
  • Training bibs (53 bibs, of different colors)
  • Cones for training (80 cones, 40 flats and 40 highs)
  • Equipment for the Under 16 and Under 10 team (15 and 8)
  • Tracksuits for the team (53 full tracksuits)
  • Bottle racks (4 bottle racks).
State
